OK OK.. these are my brooms I use to sweep the floor.
I remember when I was young, I used to use those brooms made of torn twigs from the trees or something like that? I don't know what it is, but it's messy, dirty and the "old" kind of broom. I started to use those wiper sheets about few years back, introduced by my elder brother to it, and I love it so much as the dust won't be flying around.
But the damn sheets costs money, every other day, I would have to buy packs of it. It became cheaper with other Made-in-China copycats, but the other disadvantage of it is that the area of contact is so small.
My mama who used to stay with me, dislike the wiper sheet, it's rather usual for old folks to just hate "change", isn't it? She wanted to get those old brooms that we used to have but I objected, and the closest I bought for her is a similar version, made with "cleaner" material. I then saw this re-usable cloth material to replace the wiper sheet, and it's doing wonders. Just change the cloth, wash it and reuse it when it's dry.
For some reasons, I don't like using the vacuum cleaner. It's very daunting and troublesome to take those machines out and plug it up, pulling the wires all over the place. We don't have a carpet in any case, for the sake of the children and my sensitive sinus. But we have seen a demo of the water-based cleaner, brand Rainbow and Roboclean. They are really good, being able to clean mattresses, curtains and the air too! But it comes with a high price tag (about 10k) and thus, it remains just a wish for the moment.
But the spongy-broom, does quite the same trick actually. And I use that to clean the floor twice every week, since it takes a longer time to finish off the task. Wipe rinse wipe rinse. Soon, the pail of water becomes a chocolaty color like my morning mocha. And another pail of water for the mop for a 2nd round of cleaning. Though it eats up the time, it's good exercise for me AND the floor is really squeeky clean after that. How come the maid can't make the floor so clean like I do, eh?
I saw on some home fair exhibitions there's a product in the market to auto-sweep the floor, also comes with a high price tag. It moves around on its own, gobbling up any hair or dust or mites and will go on its own to the central-recharging to recharge itself, can detects the edge of the floor so you need not have to worry about it falling off the stairs. It would be useful if your place is just flat. Now, wouldn't that be nice to have?
