We spent 5 days away from home, from that day school holiday began and what can I say, it was FABULOUS AWESOME!
The road trip took almost the entire day itself to reach there and another day to come back home. We were all cramped in ONE car, all 10 of us plus all our luggage, like about 20 pieces of them? But we had lots of fun. Kept on stopping along the way having our meals and toilet breaks and tidbits, even for curing a durian crave by the roadside.
The kids had fun all day, while my hub and I had some pak-tor time, walking hand in hand. I shall say, this had been good. Yes, breaks are good for renewing relationship, I believe.
Now the time has come for me to re-organize my days as it would be turned topsy turvy with drastic changes in our schedule. Have to admit, I have this hangover holiday blues and just don't feel like working at all.
ohhh... and the washing machine seemed to be acting up again. oh dear!

Coming school holidays plan.
School holidays are coming soon, right after (almost) the first term exams over and done with. With this one week break, families will be scrambling around to take a short break, I suppose, and have some sun and shine and fun with their children. For us, no plans!
As it is, I didn't bother to check out any places so far. We have a few destinations on tow, with free stays vouchers, about to expire, if not utilized soon. But I expect, with such a short notice from now, it would be "Full house" everywhere to use these privileges.
Suddenly, I decided I wanted to take a break too. I guess it's been sometime since we went anywhere (Singapore not counted, ok?). If possible, I would like to fly out of the country too. But with it being so close, I doubt even AA would have cheap flights. Damn! Papa is going to Bali with this customers for a so-called business trip, covering up the fun with terms like "team building activities" and "conferences". Now, I want to go too!

Our holiday trip turned sourplum
What a huge disappointment. Initially it was supposed to be a 5d4n Bali tour, instead it was replaced by a 4d3n KL mahjong fever.
We planned to bring our kids and old folks to Bali for a nice family bonding time in Bali. Paid in full for 3 packages of accommodation from a company called Country Home Premier, with a promise of Dynasty Hotel, a nice 4-5 star resort, stay. The telesales marketer promised us an additional charge of 200 for additional night per room, without charges for 3 kids in tow. That was all just, turned out to be, blank promises.
We bought airtickets from MAS, and I was even looking forward for the trip myself as the time drew nearer. A few weeks before the trip itself, hub only knew that the our booking request was not forwarded to the relevant department and the telesales marketer has resigned since then. Panic almost ensued, but we were told "DONCH WORRY, we can kaotim for you" by that company.
So, just a mere 4 days or so before the departure date, we were only told that it wasn't the resort we were promised, and we need to pay up an extra 2.5k or so for the extra nights and kids. Hub didn't compromise, and at the last minute, they told us the rooms were cancelled and we were left really panicking for the last day before the weekend. Not only we were mocked greatly, I had to deal with rude and unhelpful personnel from the company. The classic advice I was told by her "This is a punishment leigeh...". Gengchau moe?
Eventually, we cancelled our trip, and I had to explain to the old folks and the kids themselves. Sigh.. how upset can it be. Especially when I had promised didi aeroplanes and hotel stays if he behaves well. He did and he cried when I told him no more aeroplanes and hotel stays. But I make it up for him saying he can choose a toy of his own. He was still weeping till I mentioned remote control car. Ah well.. he's happily playing with it now.

We spent the Saturday in Bkt Tinggi (that was part of the initial plan) and the grandparents came over making lots of mahjong click-clacking sound all day. It's easy to make them happy, really. Let them play mahjong, and better still, let them win. That was what they did, while my hub and I sulked away passing the bucks over at the mahjong table to them. Heiz...
While 4 of them trying to win the opponents' money, the kids played Wii with the rest and I slaved away, serving them drinks and food and making sure everyone's happy (wahhh... sounds like I'm so good, huh? A bit exaggerated la, of coz!) And that what kept me away from my computer most of the time too, away from blogging, bloghopping and facebooking.

Weekend getaways for the year
Thronged to Matta Fair just a few hours before it closed shop. For RM9, RM3x2 (entrance fees), RM3 for car park (hubby wanted to save on that as well by parking illegally but couldn't find any slot only), we got quite good deals (I think) for some weekend treats for this year.
Rainforest Resort Taman Negara, that'll be a long long drive to and fro for just a night stay, but for the sake of saving money in our pockets, that's where we are going, even though that meant more fuel, hence more money spent on petrol and tolls!
And the children would absolutely love this one Tiara Beach Resort atPork Port Dickson. Only RM150 for a family suite, how affordable is that? We bought 2 vouchers for 2 suites, don't care first, see who wants to buy from us for RM200. Anyone? ;)
That were the good deals we could get hold of in the "Domestic Holidays" hall. Really darn lots of people in there. We walked till our legs sore.
Came to the "Overseas Holidays" hall, I could only feel sorry it's just "look see look see" for me. After awhile, really no mood to walk anymore and went home. By then, it was already more than 2 hours spent in the fair.
Never mind, can still "work harder" to dig for free flights at the Air Asia website, about time to plan for the "big one" at the end of the year.
Thrifty, huh? (As how Jo-N described about me), a better word to describe "kedekut", definitely.
Hey, who wants to join me in those 2 getaway breaks? CY, I'm already having thoughts about getting you guys to join us in the Taman Negara one when you are back for the summer break with your family.
