Do your kids just love to fight for anything at all? I wonder if it's more "happening" this way. Things get easily are not so "appreciated" indeed. If it's fought over and you won, there's a sense of jubilant that brings more joy than just possessing whatever you are having, I think.
I had been settling their fights over who sits in the middle seat in the car for so long. Everytime, someone would lose and sulk and show his/her long face. I liked to let them settle it among themselves, but most times, the noise they generated is really enough to bring your mood down.
So, yesterday I told them it'll be a lucky draw each time we go out. Initially, I told them to just use their hands, go lalalilitatampung! The first time, they had a draw, and koko being more "wiser", knew how to make use of that advantage to "change" his hand at the last moment, while the other 2 moong beibei didn't know what and how happened.
I knew it wasn't quite fair, so I changed it to lucky draw instead. Took 3 toothpicks and broke 2 at its end, told them to draw one each from my hand. Whoever has the whole toothpick would get to sit in the middle. Fair and square. That solves the headache. The boys are willingly happy to accept the defeat when they didn't get the luck, but meimei would always cry when she loses. *roll eyes*

A big applause to a brilliant mom.

jessy..
how about the 33.33333% of it? turn a deaf ear, right?
easy laaa... just say, the person who sits in the middle is an ugly pig.. then u go sit smack in the middle. That will catch them offguard for a few moments, i think.
goolypop,
yes you gave me a very good idea,
"remember that aunty gooly? neh.. she always sits in the middle when she was young. see how she looked like now?"
They will be fighting for the sides now..
