Karma

This morning, while driving my son#1 to school, I took the wrong route, the one I usually take to go to work. I don't even realize it until he exclaimed worriedly "Mommy, where are you going?"

Only then I saw what I had done, and it would be so dangerous to take a sudden swift to the right. Then, I was admonished by him and it sounded so familiar "Dreaming ah you?"??!!!

You say it's karma or not?

At the KFC

Heeding his words, here's what I got yesterday afternoon when I dropped by at KFC.

After I paid for my food and all, I added to the girl behind the counter, "make sure the money goes to charity, huh?" (wasting breath la, as if the girl really knows where the money goes to meh?). The girl nodded with eyes all wide saying, "yes yes, this really goes to charity one..". OK la, OK la... I wanted to quickly cabut from there but not before the man behind me said, "Yeah, you never know where this money really goes to. Some says only certain percentage of these kind of charity really goes to fund the cause, if not at all...."

Well, hopefully we really did some good from the little donation we made, though it's just so little.

Dad's dream

My dh had always told me how he used to take his friend, Wai Pung's pieces of art to pass off as his and hand it to the teacher as assignments. As Wai Pung is meticulous in his work, even the drafts he drawn up would be good enough for dh. He justified his actions by saying that he's just doing some good to somebody's efforts than having it thrown away like dirt.

The other day, he told me he had this dream, something similar to what he had ACTUALLY done when he was in school.

He said he was brought back to art classes again and in the urgency to pass something up to the teacher, he took our son's art to pass it as his, just like what he did last time. But when he saw how terribly un-presentable drawing it was, he had no choice but to redo the whole thing himself. "What a nitemare it had been, I think I would always have this phobia of art" he said.

I had a good laugh myself and criticized him. What a dad! Stealing his own son's work to pass it off as his! Such a disgrace!

Meanwhile, Son#1 first art exam results was handed back today. He got a C for it. The title was "Underwater world". When he showed it to me, I said "err..." He then asked "Not nice meh?" I said, "can be improved on, can be improved on"... Haha... I think I have to cultivate some art-sense into him before he follows his father's footsteps.

The scholar's dream

Once upon a time, in ancient China, there was a scholar who studied very hard and was confident he would pass the all important examination of China. The big day came eventually, and he set out to the city to sit for the exam.

He reached the city a few days' ahead and he found an inn to stay for the nights. That night, he had a most peculiar dream, and the next day, he asked the dream-expert to explain what his dream meant.

He told the scenario of the 1st dream. He said he dreamt he was planting a radish plant on top of a wall.

The "dream expert" told him that this meant he would not have much luck in his exams, as his efforts to plant something on top of a wall is nearly impossible, meaning his attempts to score in the coming examination would be futile too.

Demotivated, he continued to tell his 2nd scenario of his dream. He was wearing a raincoat while carrying an umbrella in the rain.

He was told this only supported the earlier explanation, that what he was doing was redundant. There wasn't a need to carry an umbrella if you have raincoat on, or vice versa. All these were not good signs.

For his 3rd dream in a row, he dreamt he was in the bed in this position with his loved one.

The dream-teller told him that was even worst. It only meant he was in bed with his loved one but he couldn't have her. So near yet so far. Bad, bad, bad omens for his exams.

Feeling very disappointed and dejected, the next day, he intended to return to his village instead of pursuing for his dream.

While checking out, the owner of the inn was surprised and asked why he's going home while the exams were to start soon. So, he told him the 3 dreams he had that night and the interpretation that he was told.

The owner took his hand and shook it, congratulating him that why, all these were indeed signs that he would succeed in his exams. He explained,

The plant at the top of the wall means he would make possible the impossible. Planting high (ko joong) in cantonese means he would succeed in his endeavour.

The raincoat and the umbrella means he had all the precautions and ever ready to embrace the challenges. Nothing would get on his way. He would surely be unbeatable.

Having his lover on the bed means he can anytime rollover and have her in his possession, and he was at the power to do what he wanted to do.

All these were good signs in fact.

*End of story* *abruptly*

Well, morale of the story, everything can be seen in many ways. Just like the case of half empty or half full cup of water.

(My loukong told me this story, one of the many he enlightened me on. I thought of sharing it here with you or just leaving it somewhere for my children or others to remember so they would feel motivated again when things don't seem to be working out fine)

Letting our hair down

What a fun day Sunday was! 3 of us (KW, JM and I) went to Redbox at the Curve from 11am to 1pm, spending only RM15 per person! So cheap. Served with caesar's salad, fried rice, laksa, and fried noodle, which comes with 4 drinks and 4 bowls of green bean soup.

It's been too long since we last met up to sing and laugh at each other. And yeah, this had been My idea.

KW cheated, he brought along scores of "hanyu-pinyin"ed lyrics of chinese songs to help him out. He sang like a pro, but if you see him onsite, you would be rolling on the floor laughing. Hello, dear, you should be watching the TV in the karaoke and sing, not looking at a piece of paper and sing la..

But the best performer's award should really go to JM. Out of ALL songs, she selected a piece of rap Beautiful Girls. When she reached the part "Soo-SAAI-dle, soo-SAAAI-dle", both KW and I can't stop laughing our heads off! I am still laughing as I am writing this down... hahaha... Thank you so much, JM, for being such a adorable friend to us.

KW and I did a duet "Endless love", which was, (ahem!) really not bad at all. JM, we might perform this for you on your wedding nite, happy?

2 hours seemed not enough, but there's so much for the time being. We hang around a little while longer, and then we checked out the "Big Apple" doughnuts which seems to be such a trendy thing to eat right now.

JM insisted that we get a box of 12, that we eat 2 each and I take the rest home for my family. OK, you shall never piss this girl off, as she would never sing "Beautiful Girls" for you, you know.
After a few mins Q-ing up, we had a tough time deciding which 12 flavours we should get our hands on. Finally, the dozen of the much-hyped about doughnuts are in our possession... *wink*

We posed silly taking pictures, felt so childish and (faked) young. In this pic of JM and I, cilaka, how come she looks prettier than me? But I so darn nice, I put the pic up here anyway, in MY BLOG, even though she's prettier, for I want to show I am SUCH A NICE PERSON INSIDE!!! HAHAHA...

Finally, after all the cameras stopped clicking, we couldn't wait to "destroy" and "terminate" the doughnuts.

Yeah, I would agree it's soft indeed, and there's such a variety of different flavours to choose from. Nevertheless, for my own liking, just my own personal opinion, nothing beats the traditional little ring of dough, sprinkled with caster sugar all over. That's still my #1 favorite.

Mothers are the best people on earth.

Look at the effort put in by this mommy for her little girl's 3rd birthday. She did this whole piece of art by herself (though I'm not sure about the cake below).

It's all plasticine stuffs, foam, cardboard etc, all dolled up for the "big show". I saw her doing that during office hours weeks before the big day. And I have thought she's just revisiting her childhood days of playing with artwork.

Everyone was gasping in amazement when they saw this cake! And nobody believed she did it all by herself! Because she's filthy rich and could easily buy a whole island for her little girl's birthday present but didn't. That shows she loves her too much to spoil her up, yeah?

And after singing the birthday song, blowing off the candles, everyone had a mad rush to get their hands on each of the little animals, as she told us, "please take whichever one you like home". Awww..
Happy birthday, little Siao Qing. "Sui" la, your mommy, now set a std for us to meet, as my Boy#1 said, "Mommy, I like this cake, can I have a cake like this for my birthday too?"
Of course, I said. Mommies are the best people on earth, aren't they?

Early sex education

Me: Sigh.. look at your new set of teeth.. looks so unsightly. When you grow up, not handsome anymore loh and can't find a gf loh. So how to get married and have babies?

Son#1: How to have baby?

Me: (Knowing what he means but dodging his question) Like I told you earlier la.. The doctor cut my tummy up and pulled you out from my tummy la.. forgot already ah?

Son#1: No, I mean, how does the baby go into the tummy (in the first place)?

Me: (slapped myself for getting into this situation) Err..

(Paused)

Me: Hmm... (thought this question would be so easy to answer until I really reach at this stage) Well, you will grow up, find a girl you love and do what papa does to mommy and soon she'll have a baby too loh..

Whew! (wipe sweat from forehead), say, this answer is pretty good, rather than telling the story of the birds and the bees.. Out of 10, maybe I score 8, no?

Then,

Son#1: Why do we need to get married first than have baby wo..

Me: Err... well... you can choose to have baby before you get married too, but you have to bear the consequences.

Son#1: What con-see-cious means?

Me: OK, time to go to bed, let's get moving...

Sing... sing out loud...

I have found this trick sometime ago, and I have shared my discovery with few of my frens.
Perhaps some of you also might have already known.

youtube is most people's toy to play with now. I am having fun with it by searching for all the nice songs and adding it to "my favorites" folder. Especially those nostalgic old songs of our times. Can't seem to find it easier than on youtube. (then again, perhaps can still find it in cd shops la, but I don't want to pay for it mah..)

Now, even better. When I feel sien or depressed, I dig those karaoke videos out and sing to my lungs' delight. Sure makes me in high spirits again, tell ya. haha..

The trick is not about that. The thing I discovered (and which most of my "students" here have to learned from me, ahem!) is that you can go to here to see what songs/videos I have in my "music folder". Sharing a tip and at the same time, sharing the nice and groovy songs from the eighties, brought to you by the "music-video-digger-in-youtube!

Sleepless in KL

It's 2am and I ought to be sleeping now. There's another day ahead with work piled up like a truckload and the last thing I want is to fall asleep while driving.

But I just can't sleep. I am so troubled. I wished I had prayed to God more. I wished I had done more charity. Coz I need all the best luck I can ever get. Sigh! No use crying over spilt milk. I hope this would be over soon.

(Uh oh.. this could be a little bit of a problem..)
Guys and girl, baby and pug, you are tagged!
1. Jessy
2. Fish
3. Baby Shannon

5, Axel (sorry, I have to put you in to complete this tag! haha...)

My first "tag"!

omg, OMG, OH MY GRACIOUS GOD!! I'm so panicky now I don't know what to do!

I've been tagged! My very first virgin "tag"! Thanks, Leoni, you've now got to "take care of me for the rest of my life, for better or worse, till death do us part..." haha...

For my pathetic small little audience here, or my visitors whom I know so far has only been my friends, perhaps I'll do a little introduction to this mommy blogger.

I had stumbled open her blog via 5xmom and was instantly struck with her post on the lovely story of wearing our rings on our fourth finger. Something which I rarely, in fact, never did, was that I had immediately left a comment and didn't expect anything in return. A pleasant surprise it was, she returned my visit (making sure I am no internet psycho, I presume), and here I am, tagged!

Leoni shares "almost" many of my feelings and joy in little things children do. Furthermore, she's english-educated (like me), went to an mixed school in sixth form from an all-girls school (like me), blogging for her children (like me), so young (like me), and so pretty (like me) . I feel she's also a good writer, with a strong command in english with a good vocab, making her site such an interesting read. I would have liked to emulate her writing skills, really.

I guess I am beginning to enjoy the real fun in blogging. Considering so many of them who had matured in it, I feel slightly embarrassed that even after more than a year now, I am still like a "baby". :)

(Oh yes, after reading the "ring on 4th finger" story, I happily told my honey of it that night, expecting on the back of my mind that it would touch him too. Bugger, he purposefully tried so hard to make both the 4th fingers to come apart and trimphantly said, can mah.. I replied, ok la, I know I can't tahan you any longer too la... he giggled like a little boy, happy that he pissed me off)

I'll do the tag in the next post...

Short weekend break

It's nice to take a short break over the weekend. Just less than 2 hours drive away, not a stressing journey, and still able to make it home on Sunday for a birthday party in the late afternoon.

This time, this relaxing resort room facing the Straits of Malacca with no blockage, is part-courtesy from KT's sister, Thanks a lot, PT. "Thank you, koo- koo". Next time, let's come here together, ok?

I don't have much to write about in this entry here, since it wasn't all the exciting or what. It was just very relaxing, spending time leisurely on the beach and pool, and having a good time with each other alone to ourselves.

I'm going to throw this camera away real soon! Well, at least throw to my #1 baby.
It has so often betrayed me by malfunctioning at the time I need it most. I haven't stop hinting, indirectly and directly to my honey that I want a new replacement for a camera, my favorite toy!

Papa and #1baby went out to the low-tidal sea to catch baby crabs back for us while having a sunburn under the super hot sun.. #2 and #3 stayed here with me under the umbrella shade to play sand. #2 baby really enjoyed himself while the little girl has finally got over her "wobbly-legs-on-fine-sand" phobia. Yahoo! Now can look forward to the end-of-the-year-mega-holiday-family-trip.

Rare moments like this one.

My honey would usually inspire me with some stories on and off, or out of the blue. Sometimes it would act as a bedtime story, sometimes it could rather be inspiring or touching.

Once, he came home from an overseas business trip. On the bed before going to sleep, he gave me a warm tight hug and a peck on the forehead, topped up with the "icing"; those 3 special words, "I love you".

Well, well, that was indeed too sweet to be true. It's not everyday that he does that, mind you. I asked him if he had been doing something naughty behind my back while on the trip. Wait till I get proof.. he'll certainly be chased out from MY HOUSE!!

BUT...

He said, of course no la (of course every honey would say that to their wives, who would dare to admit? Even got proof also must die-die deny it one!)

Then, he told me of a movie he saw on the flight home. Very rare he was so touched until he cried! *WHAT??!! HE CRIED WATCHING A MOVIE??!!* That was exactly the response I gave him.

It was a HK movie, starring Andy Lau and Ah-Sa (one of the TWINS). Ah Sa played Andy's wife whereby Andy was a doctor and he was always too busy to even come home to eat dinner with her. She didn't complain all the while and the dinner she waited for never came because she perished in an accident and died in his hands, in his hospital.

Storyline too simple, right? (Really, don't know why that would make him shed tears)

Anyway, learning the morale of the story, he continued, that he would now take time to appreciate and show his love for me more before something bad happens to me and it would be too late.. arh.... so sweet... I was almost in tears already....

Well, then, I should have known better, he very soon back to his normal again. And so, that was one rare moment of sweetness he shown to me, a tiny deed which though sets strongly in my mind forever.

I repent deeply now.

What goes around, really really comes around.
Just barely 24 hours after I blogged about the dropped teeth of my son's, I suddenly found out my molar tooth on my right below jaw was fragmented while I was having lunch!

Sob! Sob!

That tooth was right beside the wisdom tooth which wasn't grown in a proper position. I should have known when I felt shiver all over my body when I floss that "celah" every night. But procrastination and fearful of a dental visit kept me from finding a solution to it. I think the harm was done by the slanting tooth which should have made me wiser.

Now when I use my tongue to "feel" that area, it's still giving me the shivers. I'm wondering if the dentist visit is still imminent?

Is this so co-incident or the gods are playing revenge on me on behalf of my son?

SOrry la, my darling boy, I repent already. Mommy have a fractured tooth, and I not gonna have any more new tooth coming out for me... boohoohoo...

Where's my tooth fairy?

The eldest boy lost his front 2 teeth in 2 weeks', while he was munching on food.

He asked me if the tooth fairy is going to drop by to pick up his baby teeth when he sleeps? And he asked how the tooth fairy looks like.

I replied "Yeah, the fairy would come and be gone before you know it. I think it looks like a girl with a size like *this* small and has a pair of wings behind her back"

He gave me a worried look and starts to cry that he doesn't want any tooth fairy.

Laughing at my little joke that I just played on him, I have to comfort him back fast fast before he worries too much.

He's now like a toothless baby who has to bite from the side and who says "sh.." like "ff..".

I wanted to take a picture of his face without the teeth, but he refused to have his picture taken. How and when do children learn to become so vain?

I'm glad his teeth dropped before the new one comes out. Going to the dentist to have it pulled out is really kind of a traumatizing experience. Hopefully this critical few of the front permanent teeth would make his smile bright, as the ones below are hopelessly darn ugly.

On a side note, on this night, I saw my little girl took out some toy blocks and arrange them nicely in a neat row on a table. Then, I heard her saying "who wants to play mahjong?"....

(Wiping sweat from forehead).."sei loh"....

Working out

Out of vanity, I signed up for a "trial" session of 3 months at Fitness First for the purpose to "workout", to make myself "look better, feel better, stay healthy, keep fit, trimmed down, toned up, back to shape (though I heard before that round is a shape)".

2 months passed. I was diligent to go every 3 days in a week for an hour workout on the treadmill and the equipments. Last 2 weeks, the pace slowed down.. seems like forcing myself to go... sigh!!.

The best moment is when the hour of workout is up and it's time for shower and steam, then squeaky clean and fresh coming out from the FF outlet. When I reach home, I just straight go for dinner, have the whole evening to myself and family without dragging my feet to take a shower.

These days, I preferred to join the group session for some aerobics and dancing rather than the monotonous running on the same spot. And I love it! It was years since the days of disco and dancing, have to admit my body felt so stiffed. My knees can't even bent, and jumping around more than 4 times, I was panting for breath already! What lao!! So old meh?

Anyway, lucky the whole darn place is dark, noone sees me jumping and yelping like an old lady. Most importantly, I was enjoying myself, man! No time to go disco? No fret, I can dance and jump and flip my limbs crazy without anyone noticing and laughing. What can be better than that?

Well, never mind if I don't get back to my youth's shape, I still enjoy "releasing" it out, yeah!

Oh, I'm gonna stop the subscription though. Too expensive la, my dear darling complaining already.

Me: Dear, I look nice ah?

Him: No changes la, waste of money only.

Me: :-(

My Friday favorite time of the week

Long ago, I used to look forward to every Friday 5.30pm. I would rush to prepare dinner and settle all that was needed to be done before 4....
