It had been a quiet week. I want to go shopping today! Shouldn't be any major happenings now that yesterday came and went?
I was at the wet market early morning and saw the banner of calling people to come and sign for the petition "Free Teresa Kok and abolish ISA". It said "today at 9am", and I forgot all about vegetables, meat and fish, parked my car and quickly look around for the place. Bukit Bintang MP from DAP was there, I forgotten his name and asked one of the women wearing DAP t-shirts who he is. AH.. no wonder he looked so familiar, his face was all over the place before the GE2008.
But his short speech wasn't as interesting as another speaker (unknown) who spoke in Cantonese. And I participated in clapping when others were, and left after awhile. The signatures were all on her banner. Many people without much prompting came forward to sign on it.
Across the road is another long banner which says "where is our Teresa Kok?" with her sassy face from her sassy blog. My heart sinks looking at it, somehow, and watching her mom's video on her condition was even heart wrenching, feeling for her as a woman and a mother. My hope as with all others right now, is to see for the day of her release and regaining her freedom.

Parties in the 80's
When I was a little girl with 2 ponytails on each side of the head, I was 12 when I went to a party, my very first. It was a birthday party and there weren't any boys or games. Just some food, but I was very happy.
Then shortly after, I was invited to another friend's birthday party again, and that time, it was very crowded, old and young all gathered for the special girl of the day. I remembered it was the first time I watched "Sound of Music" at her house, and it also opened my eyes as how some homes could be so different.
It was such a beautiful home, from the sky, I think it it shaped like a C, only not so rounded. One side was the living hall with the bedrooms while the other side holds the kitchen, dining and the maids' quarters, both sides connected by a long corridor, all aircon-ed up.
Right in the middle beside the corridor, is the beautiful garden with landscapes and shaded trees, and a gazebo to sip afternoon tea. I couldn't describe the beautiful picture I saw in better context, but it was so awesome that it remains inked in my memory all these years.
Some years later, into the sweet sixteens, the first parties of those with boys around. They were usually held in a friend's home (Pei Pei), her parents are really cool with that!
That brought me to remember my fond memories of my very first slow dance. It was such an awkward time but hilarious thinking about it right now.
Unsure why, up until this day, it's very natural that females would somehow stick together like glue at one side and the males on the other side. Then of course, the girls would feellansi shy to ask the boy to dance, all waiting for the other to make the first move. Some friendly and good looking ones sure went for the prettier and safer bets to avoid being turned down. I, was one of those, left behind (mai jing jie or buy 1 free 1 that sort), but still lansi shy to ask.
Eventually this 4-eyed geek walked over to me and asked me for a dance. While he was walking over.. I was thinking "oh no, please not let it be me.. please please please..." Ish! See see I was really the chosen one. So, afraid of being seen as super duper lansi and not invited for any more dances in future, I relented.
And what happened was.. I put my hands on his shoulder, his on my waist, both our hands straight like a bamboo stick. After sometime, I could feel his hands were like putting fire on my waist (like X-men!) and it was the most awkward swaying of our hips! The people around started to notice our virgin dance and poke fun at us, pretending to be bees, flies, mosquitoes and aeroplanes that can fly between us. Why didn't we just stop, I can't fathom why, but wasn't that hilarious?
*sweats* That virgin dance ended when the music stopped and I was soooo relieved. Now, I can only laugh non-stop looking back at that time.
I guess the reward for that stupid dance came next. Seeing I wasn't very good in it, one of those handsome ones decided to give me some "tutorials" and asked me for the 2nd dance. (I vividly remembered thinking, wtf! I just went through one and now another so soon??) It wasn't clear why it was like an unwritten rule that we should not turn down invitations. I suppose if wekapsi have reached the level of lansiness high popularity, we shouldn't spoil our reputations yet.
And so, this 2nd dance happens to be the best I ever had.
Some of those parties, were those sleep-overs and we fought hard not to fall asleep. Into the night after the disco and slow dances, we would talk sumsi or play some card games, or cerita some creepy stories (guys who do that to make the girls put their arms around them, I suppose). Once, all of us went out for a walk in the ungodly hours, 2 by 2, 1 line of guys, the other of girls. Amazing how these youngsters thought of such ideas! (Not me, wokay?) But I had butterflies in my stomach when one of those I was eyeing came over and walked beside me.
So, these are some of the fond memories I had when I was 16-17. After which, I felt those parties were so boring and didn't bother to turn up much, but that part of my life remains a very special time of it.

Fun with sand and slides.
Just came back from 1-night stay at Tiara Beach Resort, PD over the weekend, using the MATTA Fair voucher for a family suite RM150. That only valids for Ramadhan month, where the resort face a big challenge of quietness during this month every year, I presume.
The deal is quite fair, as the suite comes with 2 rooms, 1 with a double bed and the other, 2 super single beds. So, everyone sleeps quite comfortably for the night. But other than that the suite has nothing much to offer, it's a very basic and 2-3 star status accommodation. Hence, other than enjoying the water theme park, there's nothing much to do in the room, unlike in Avillion where it's just pure heaven sitting in the balcony with eyes closed or a book in hand. No such luxury here.

We arrived at abt 4pm, checked in and almost dashed to the pool and slides. I guess the adults have as much fun as the kids as we went on the slides too. But after awhile, we feel "huh? that's all?". But of course, the kids never have enough, they can go on and on and on...

About evening, we took our shower and went to a seafood dinner, all 14 of us (with a good friend and his family). After which we proceeded back to the hotel and watched a live acrobatic performance. For me, looking at Son2 was more entertaining than watching them, his enthusiastic look and clapping was priceless.
Later on, they dashed to the indoor children's playground and was over-ecstasy on the jumping airbed. The younger 2 were lying on it and some really really fat boys were jumping like noone's business. I was shocked and quickly pulled them out from it to avoid any untoward accident before it's too late. Things nearly got out of control. Is this over-protective? I don't know, but I sure dare not take the risk.

Why, I felt very tired by 10, and after managing to tuck them off to bed, I can't keep my eyelids up anymore and went straight into slumber. And was awakened by the similar sound of raindrops. Looking out the window, it was the sound made from the splashing water of the theme park. It was a bright and happy new day.
We quickly made our way to breakfast soon, and found the nearest for Bak Kut Teh. Came back hurriedly and changed to swimsuit again. This time, I took the camera to start the snapping pics of the kids to my delight while they enjoyed themselves immensely from the sand, slides and water. The dad were busy talking on the phone in the room, working. Sigh..

So, there was a time, I just sat on the sand under the tree while watching the 3 of them played. It was the kind of pure simple enjoyment and bliss to just watch them while they are not at each other's throats. One of the best time being a mother looking at her babies having fun.

Good, strict, disciplined tuition teacher
Remember last week I told the dramatic story on "House on Fire"? Aiyah, 2 posts below only, browse down to read if you had not.
Anyway, I was saying I was yakking on the phone before my mom almost yell "Fire! Fire!", right? Then I remembered I cut short the conversation so suddenly, I should have the courtesy to call back and continue our yakking.
So, that was what I did just now, and to my horror of horrors, she told me about her experience with this so-called "strict, discipline, velli good" tuition teacher.
Apparently, she sent her son to one of a mutual friend's recommendation just 2 days ago. Before it started, the teacher had given him an activity book which the son claims that it's exactly the same that they use in school. Well, her instructions for the little 8 year old.. to complete the whole book's exercises from day 1 of this year right up till the current where she is teaching.
The son, of course, will object like what a sane boy would do, and pleads for leniency from his mom with the fact that he had done those long ago and long forgotten. What's the point, right?
So, the mom feels his point of argument is rather valid, and she calls her to convey the message. Apparently, she thinks the teacher said "do to his best effort", that translate to "ok", right? Wrong!
She told me today, the teacher suddenly called and ordered her to pick her son home right there and then, as she is very strict and can't tolerate any students who thinks he/she is brighter than anyone else. Apparently, that's because he didn't do his "homework".
My friend told me how outrageous it was and was very angry with her. I understand, and I helped to diss that !@#$%^ fler, hoping that would make her feel better?
It sounded insane, right? Poor little kids, only 8 years old nia.. why so serious?
Ok, can be serious a bit, but at least be logical.
It's so strict and serious in the formal school, at least these "extras" should be a little wee bit more of fun nature to encourage them love learning. I think those students are psychologically tortured by her or these kind of tuition masters. Boy! Lucky I didn't listen to my friend and send my son there. I would be mentally tortured by her too leh.
So, the moral of the story is.... Call someone to help tiu that fler if you feel tulan?

Potluck

The food we brought to Jacqueline's house in Bangsar on the 24th Aug. See the 2 dishes at the back, behind the 2 wines, next to the tissue box? I made those things. Very good, they say, not I say. *grin*
About 7-8 of us turned up at the party, and we had non-stop chatter till 4+. And yes, we enjoyed ourselves so much, we said we'll do it another time again. So hooked on these gatherings, are we obsessed with each other or what?
And for the children, thank God there were no casualties, though all hell broke loose with those boxes of toys. It feels so awful good to go to people's house, mess up their place, then say sorry and go home! Hehe..
Last quarter big plans
Notice again my new header? Designing is fun and addictive. Exploring with new fonts, colors, pictures, techniques.
This site, fonts for download, is good to find new, unique, happy, different fonts to play with other than usual's usual ones. So boring to see the same old fonts all day, right?
We are entering into the last quarter of the year. And it makes me excited as many plans are in store.
Last quarter means, coming of the new year again, bonuses, year end trips, Hari Raya holidays (no, I don't celebrate but we have holidays, that's the point!), sales sales sales, and... *whisper* I'm going to be rich!
Don't take me seriously, ok? I'm just dreaming. As always. This is the secret to be happy.
