... experiencing "deja vu". The story, the settings, the meaning: all so boring and similar. It's like "been there", "done that" and "same old ending", you know, the usual good vs. evil, good wins despite the odds, small fry boy after hotalicious girl... sigh...
Feelings over the movie is also the same as towards my spouse. Just can't help feeling love and hate at the same time.
Back to the movie, I do think the girl, Mikaela is as good an eye candy as can be, and the boy... cute. But I really do wish the storyline is not so cliche, and more actions or transformers rolling in, rolling out, rolling in... that was what I was looking for. I think it's the only "high points" everyone in the cinemas were waiting for. Alas, I missed the "climax" when the big evil sprang back to life, as I was.... in the loo, taking my little girl for her poo-poo... what a waste!
Despite all these, I can't help falling in love with the cute little sophisticated robots (they google everything they need to know through the internet too), I am so so so tempted to buy one of those little transformers being sold right now outside of C4. It REALLY can do the work of transforming, mind you. But, so so so pricey, should I? For once?

Party games for kids.
One year had passed since I last told everyone here about Joshua's birthday celebration.
This year, I held a birthday party for him and a few of his friends he was allowed to choose from. It marvelled him when he saw the invitation cards I made for him to give to his guests... ("What a wonderful mom I have")... Gee...

He wrote the names on each card and passed to his friends.
The day came and gone. It was chaotic fun! At least for the children. I had painstakingly prepared games for them to play and everyone, except Joshua, participated. What luck!

The games session started with "Guess the goodies". Every child is invited to make a guess on how many items there are in each of the goodies jars and the closest guess gets the jar. The first and smallest prize went to Joshua who split his prize with his friend who had the same guess as him. I thought that would be an encouragement to him, but instead....sigh!

The party proceeded with paper plane attacks whereby they were divided into 2 teams, one mainly the boys team and the other, surely, the girls' team. They were supposed to make as many paper planes as they could and throw the planes across to their opponents' "territory". The team with the least paper planes at the "STOP" signal wins, and that went to the.... girls' team! That was because they were "far-sighted" enough to throw their planes over as far as they could. Shows how much smarter girls can be, eh?
We stopped the games at 6, for a brief dinner interval, I called it as "Rancangan Tergendala" while CK said it's advertisement time! :)
Food was served simply with egg and ham with cheese sandwiches, sticks of "fishball, broccoli and sausages", pizza, roasted chickens, "ta-pau" fried rice and fried noodles, watermelons and cans of "Anything"s and "Whatever"s. Enough to stuff the guests, though it wasn't very impressive. I suppose for a kids birthday party, we should stick to the rule of "junk food applies".
The children were soon getting restless, and to get them in high spirits of "partying" again, the games continued with "Memory game".
They sat in a circle, and it started with one of them saying "A is for (something which starts with A)". Then the person on the left had to repeat what he/she said, and add on with the next alphabet. It goes on until the person can't remember the sequence and what they have said, and the last person to be "out" wins the game. Joshua was out very soon, and he sulked and complained that the game was unfair... *Pathetic sigh*
Then, we had a simplified version of "Wheels of fortune". With a whiteboard and marker pen, the children take turns to name an alphabet and guess the phrase I wrote on the board. Pretty fun that is. Some moms there tried to help the younger members in the group. This game is good for 7 year olds, I do think.
After blowing off the 7 candles on a fruit cake and did all that is to be done, party's adjourned at 8+. And I was really darn tired that night!
Then again, what I had planned initially is to let Joshua have a good time. Apparently, I had failed miserably in that mission. Really have to instill in him that the main point to participate in a game is to enjoy himself in the process, learn from the mistakes, and be smart to kick opponents away, and that it's NOT necessarily meant that he MUST win. How am I going to teach him that?

Hurray! 2 in school!
This is the first week Adrian starts to have a feel of "school life".
On the 1st day of school, he didn't want to leave his warm bed. Meanwhile, Chloe was all geared up to go! (So sorry, darling, you have to stay and wait for another year or two). Heard that she wasn't too happy being alone the whole morning, looking dull and moody and wouldn't even want to touch her toys at all.
As for Adrian, he's pretty cool from the first day. Only when I reached there to fetch him home, he sobbed to me that he hurt his little finger from closing on his beg's latch. Other than that, the teacher told me he's doing good.
My little boy, how grown up now...

Remote Controller
From now on, there's a new remote controller in our home. Adrian is not relying on us to change the channel to the one he wants to watch anymore. No more pleading, begging and crying. He mastered the know-how. So, KT has another headache. Apart from his mother-in-law and Joshua and me fighting for the channel preference on the TV, Adrian will be fighting for his right too! Hahaha...
Boy! Wait till he knows the trick to watch dvd...

1st Report Card Day
Last Sat, I went to my son's school for my very first "Report Card Collection Day". I guess it's more of a significant day for me than for my son. And it's unlike those report cards that nice sweet kindy teachers prepare for the parents, saying everything a parent would be proud to hear about their offsprings.
I was more eager to hear about what the teacher got to say about his behaviour and attitude in class than the marks he gets for his tests. Was really worried that she would start complaining about him being naughty, daydreaming all the time, or what else there are. Where should I start digging hole to put my face when faced with such situation, I wonder.
But it was ok, she said he's quite a nice kid, and he would come up to her to ask her questions about the things he doesn't understand, which not all the rest of the class would do. I guess that's a good sign?
She also mentioned he talks chinese like an angmoh, so that's one part we need to help him improve on. Sigh.. life is getting stressful for me indeed.
Anyway, with his own efforts and very little guidance from me, he reached the position in the "First 15" is good enough from me. Looking back, I think I didn't do as well as him when I was at his age.
Hope he would keep on drowning his teachers with his never ending questions..

The differentiation
There are 3 types of people in this world :
1. To make things happen
2. To watch things happen
3. Wondering what happened.
I probably heard of that before, but somehow when I heard it again yesterday, it just hit right there... somewhere.
As a friend said before, the brilliant guys behind some big-money-making websites were actually not so brilliant. The ideas were not BIG ideas. Any normal person might have thought of that ideas too. What differentiates them from the normal person is that .... they MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Isn't that so true? We all identify what we need, and with a need, there comes the demand and thus, comes the supply. There's where the money comes rolling in, with a bit of hardwork too.

Girls meet
On Labours Day, we held an "all girls meet" in 1U for lunch.

It was an enjoyable and pleasant afternoon. We went to Chillis (my suggestion!), more for the bottomless drinks and its succulent lamb. They were very smart, made me talked and before I knew it, the food were all gone and I was left with nothing. *Grrr*

After lunch, we helped our stomachs to digest the food by walking around some bookstores, then felt like sitting down for another drink again. Shows how old we are now!
During the tong-sui session, the girls made me showed my "see-lai" image by prompting me to talk about the mastery of "floor cleanliness", my goodness! Imagine how our topics changed so drastically from "men and dating" 10 years ago to "how to sweep and mop the floor the 21st century" now.
But I guess all of us laughed a lot that day. It was surprisingly, a very pleasant and enjoyable company that afternoon. I guess none of us had any other agenda, just purely to meet up as old friends, which made the company so comfortable.
LM is seriously endulging in her photography hobby, as she took out her bulky and cool 8Megapixels SLR digital camera and snapped pictures of us. We were the reluctant models for the day. Hope she would become famous one day for her photography skills. Take a look at her pictures here.
Meanwhile, the updates we have, for the benefit of our friends, LL is getting ready for the arrival of her twins, MK is seriously training to be a line-dancer, Esther is on the way for her retirement as a nanny. As for JM, she's busy being a "GRO" for her high class customers.. accompanying them to Pangkor Laut resorts for so-called meetings.. Hahaha... ( It's actually an envious remark here.. we had been dreaming of going to Pangkor Laut all these years but feels it's too expensive).
