Bukit Merah and Lost World of Tambun

When we returned from Taipei, we drove back to our parents' home in Ipoh to collect the kids. As promised, we took them to Bkt Merah for a night's stay. My good friend, CK and his family were already checked in for the night before and waiting for us.

When we arrived and dumped our bags into the room, we were whisked to a coloring competition. I mean, the kids. They were not very willing and happy to be doing coloring when all they wanted was the water theme park. Anyhow, we forced them to. oops!

Some kids were really pro, fully equipped with crayons and desks. The rest are given a box of 12 color pencils. Among the 6 of us, 2 were chosen to be consolation prize winners and given 50bucks each to be deposited into their very own account which is to be opened at that time with that particular bank. And all of us haven't heard of that bank before.
The jetty to Orang Utan Island. It was a very very long wait for the boat. Roughly 1 hour, I think.

And whilst waiting, the kids all joined their heads together to discuss something REALLY important!!!

Hi~ goolypop! ~ Careful on that rope now, mun...

After visiting the island of Orang Utan, we came back to shore and on to EcoPark. There was an animal show just about started and all of us hurried over. It was similar to the one we watched in Bird Park to me.

The EcoPark is pretty cool, I would say. Saw some mighty huge crocodiles which didi is afraid to go near to even though it was dozing away and locked up well in a cage. The pythons and fat long snakes are the ones which send shivers down my spine. yikes! Don't like.

Then we moved on to the free chairlift ride that comes along with the package we bought. It goes above and across the water theme park, giving us an aerial overview of it.

Didi was very excited and happy!

Silhouette of my dad and korkor up in the air.

That's something we haven't seen before in Sunway Lagoon and Bkt Gambang.

The kids were very unhappy that we skipped the water theme park and were getting notorious. We promised yet again that we would take them to a more happening one in Ipoh the next day. Tried to pacify them with the hotel's pool which was soooo crowded with people! The water was chilling cold but nevertheless the kids still enjoyed themselves... I think.

Went on to Taiping for dinner after that.

The next day we woke up early to depart to Ipoh and called their grandparents for breakfast together. After a hearty breakfast i Ipoh Gdn, we excitedly made our way to the Lost World of Tambun.

And yet again, it was people mountain people see! Too crowded, too crowded!

We bought the tickets, smuggled some food in, settled our stuffs in a locker and went over to find a spot to put our other stuffs. The kids were getting very restless whilst we were walking around doing all that before making the dash to the pool and then I gave them the green light for them to do so BEFORE I remembered to smoother sunscreen lotion all over their body and limps.

They were all wet when I finally put the lotion on myself.

It was an extremely HOT day!

After sometime at the wave pool, (where the waves are so UNexciting), we took the kids to check out other places.

The hot springs is SO COOL! Well, maybe cool is not quite appropriate the description. Albeit a little weird under the hot weather spell, but nevertheless, still GOOD! We all loved the hot tubs and hot reflexology for our feet and agreed this is an attraction of Lost World which is not available in other water theme parks, certainly differentiating it from the rest.

Then we went on to the thrill rides, while hub's dad, who followed us along though he didn't go into the water, directed us where to go next and where to wait etc. Like a tour guide.

At the queue waiting for the rides, we need to leave our 8-shaped floats aside as it's not allowed in. We expect noone would be so rude to just take them away. While Q-ing for the 2nd time, didi and hub went on to check out other places and the floats were missing when we came down from the slides.

All of us were so mad with that bugger and CK went off to look for them while the rest of us stayed around just to keep a lookout for those floats and hoping it will be returned to that spot.

Suddenly I saw didi standing in front of me, I was surprised. Looked up and around searching for his dad and he was nowhere to be seen! So I asked where his dad went and what happened. He looked forlorn and lost and worried slightly, and didn't answer me. Guessing he might be scared I would scold him I told him it's ok and gave him a hug and that I won't scold him.

He then told me he couldn't find papa after he went over to another spot to play. I was so grateful that he knew the way back in search for me and that THAT missing float incident was really a blessing in disguise after all! Had to thank that bugger! And then, miraculously, the floats were also back in that same spot where we left them! We all went back to our 'camp' happily and munched on our snacks. mmm... so yummy!

Hub came back after a long while and I admonished him for being so careless. It was a huge place after all and didi could be wandering around on his own if we left that spot earlier. It's not a familiar place to him and I'm sure I would freak out major if I find him missing, by himself!

Anyway, all was good, and we were happy campers. I did not want that to spoil our day which was going on pretty well. And I thanked the angel who was looking after didi. I'm sure there is one.

A few hours later, dipped in the water under the hot weather, we moved on to the "dry" park.

Didi showing you the map of Lost World Tambun

Surrounding the pools and slides, I found out there are other attractions apart from them.

Tigers, boating, petting zoo and a very nice view of a pond with the backdrop of limestone cave. I was mighty surprised and delighted to find that awesome place. It looked so surreal and like an untouched natural beau. I think everyone should visit that place at least once, support local tourist attraction!

House of snakes. You would be able to see snakes above you. Not for the faint hearted.

And that was our last league of the 2010 year end school holidays. Had a nice dinner with family and headed on straight back to KL at 9pm. Hub was AWFUL sleepy driving that journey home. Fortunately we arrived home safe and sound, in 1 piece.
