My parents came over for a surprise visit one of the weekends. Mainly, dad had a day off and they wished to see their 2 grandchildren who are home from Bang-cock. We didn't go anywhere much, as we were busy with my kids' Sat afternoon activities. After a swim at the pool, we went to my sis-in-law's place and nearby for a seafood dinner. At the end of the day, it was most rewarding to hear my dad says "This dinner is most satisfactory, very happy today". Guess not only the food was good, the company was so important for these old folks.
My mom stayed on for a couple more days and she had been enduring a pain in the gum of the mouth. Finally she requested to see a dentist after one night unable to sleep because of the pain. The dentist saw her problem and gave her a few choices. She decided to pull off the tooth and was so relieved the pain was dealt with. She said she never had thought her tooth was rotten as she had taken well of them so far, and been believing that the pain in the gum was due to "body heat". Of course, I didn't tell her how silly she had been. In any case, most people keep putting off visiting a dentist until the need really arises. Are you one of them? I am.
Not only in visiting a dentist, but even a doctor. I ought to get a pap smear test done this year as well, and been putting it off. You know la, it's not very pleasant opening up the legs apart for someone to "poke" around. So that day while my mom was at the dentist, I went to a nearby gynae clinic, but chickened out after knowing it's a "he". I am still unsure to go for a man or woman gynae yet, but if it's a man, I might as well go back to the one I'd been to before.
Anyway, after chickening out, I went to check back on my mom and since I was there, I thought might as well get a polishing of my teeth too. So, out of a sudden, I spent more than 200 bucks to get it cleaned and 3 teeth mended. Life's indeed getting pricey to maintain now.
Since we are on the topic of teething, today didi came home from school and showed me a loose tooth of his after taking his shower. It was really shaky and I asked him if he wanted it pulled, like what we had done before. He said "no la, I do it myself", turned around, shook his tooth a bit and suddenly "ALREADY!". What? That was really fast! I was so amused.
And I have more to say, but let's have a break for awhile.

Your son is so brave to pull out his own tooth! So did you praise him apart from just being amused? ;)
I visit the dentist every 6 months. Guess I am paranoid of future cavities! And I go for physical checkup every year. This one I don't want to go if possible but the hospital clinic will send me a reminder. Usually will make an appointment to go after much procrastination.
