Shopping spree in preparation for CNY

Bought your new clothes yet? I did, and the theme this year would be....

"Casual and branded"... read, "B-R-A-N-D-E-D". *grin*

Never knew buying branded stuffs can be that fun and shiok. BUT then again, later I'll get it from him when he sees the credit card bill. Let me think a way how to hypnotize him to see different numbers. Hmm... normally, some "job" with some blowing kind would do the trick...*blushed* shucks! have to be harder and longer this time

Meanwhile, I'm thinking where to go next to make some more purchases... Heck! It's not what I want, it's my hands which can't stop signing on the dotted lines on the tiny slips of paper. Who says it's so difficult to sign on the dotted lines, huh?

Now, that's the only thing which makes me look forward to CNY, wearing all these squeaky clean nice nice new new clothes. And putting these nice frocks and shirts on the kids as well. Abuhthen, what else there is to look forward to?

Sigh!!! I'm dreading the journey home, as dh says "let's drive at odd hours to beat the traffic jam". Last year, I think we were stuck on the PLUS for 5 hours.

Now, the big plan of his is to have our supper on the eve's eve night time, with the kids in pyjamas, equipped with pillows and bolsters in the car, after which, head home when everybody's sleeping in the dead of the night, and reach back kampung before dawn breaks. Maybe still can have breakfast of Ipoh's famous dim sum before it's jammed with crowds coming from the big cities, then only go to sleep! Ingenious of him, right? Oh dear...

Dinner at Planet Hollywood.

Can't imagine it was the first time I was dining at Planet Hollywood, Bukit Bintang last night.

It was quite an impromptu decision to go for "kick table leg" with dh, no special occasion to celebrate, just to make use of the RM100 voucher rewarded by our credit card's bank for dutifully swiping their cards, before it expires.

We had arrived pretty late after work, and by that time my tummy was growling hungrily already. Ordered a beef rib and appetizer of buffalo wings. Shucks! I should cultivate the habit of carrying my digital camera around to take pictures and blog about it. I guess I only realized that when we stepped inside the place.

Talking about the place, I don't quite fancy such decors. Gave me a creepy feeling, all the weird and ghostly figures around the place. And it's not the 7th month or Halloween yet. Damn! Where's the camera when I needed it most, pictures speak a thousand words, much better than me here struggling to describe how it looks like.

Anyway, dh had to make me pissed somehow. He went downstairs to go to the loo, and when he came back, he asked me if I want to take a look below. I, being so lazy, tired already after walking all the way from Jalan Alor to PH, and damn hungry too, just don't feel like lifting my big lazy bum from the chair and walk down and up the stairs. I ignored him, he asked again, I ignored again, asked again, said no, and asked again, till I got fed up and walked down, back up and said "no, I don't want to dine below, you satisfied now?".. Sigh!!!

The plates came in rather big sizes. Beef was succulent and tender (yummy!), but the buffalo wings, we felt, were too sourish and spicy. Somehow, I think TGIF has the nicer version of buffalo wings. Just the 2 of us can't take in all the food. But it was still RM20 away to top it up to RM100, and so, we had a dessert of banana split. Ice-cream! Slurp!

We talked about our work, seemed like ages we haven't really talked to each other, as both of us were so busy until "got time to die, no time to sick".

We left and walked around Pavilion, trying to find something to use up the RM50 voucher he has. Wondering why we have so many vouchers, huh? Now you know my dh is a digger for all sorts, especially vouchers. We still have Tai Thong and Dome vouchers to use, as well as Tesco. He tried to hint me to use the Tesco vouchers to do my shopping. What the hell, buy new year clothes from Tesco? Tesco only meant for groceries la.. I rather wear my old clothes for cny.

I wanted to go to Sg Wang to shop for pretty stuffs, but he insisted that we go Pavilion first. Didn't realize the shops were about closing time, as it was near 10pm already. And so, the voucher is still left unused, and we went home empty-handed. Next week, I must make time to go shopping for clothes, bag and shoes, don't care.

It was a rare Friday evening I was out dining and walking hand in hand with dh, and able to see the new year decors on the streets. Pretty, pretty (again, I missed my camera so much). Bintang walk is close to being Orchards Road, though not quite close yet, and the crowd, wonder where they come from. Anyhow, I can't wait going home to see the kids again, and it was awfully nice to be back in the warm, comfy bed cuddling the little ones.

Happy from a Friday night break.

Chinese New Year again?

Wow! About 2 weeks or so, it's that time of the year again. The food we had last year for reunion dinner, vegetarian brunch, new year opening lavish meal, father-in-law's birthday party's satay and bihun goreng and the numerous lou-sang still seemed not digested fully and it's another round of those stuffs again?? Jeezes..., oops, should be, namo-oli-tofu.

Guess after these over 30 years of CNY, I'm about to say "I QUIT". But fortunately and unfortunately, that could never be the case.

I guess this time of the year has different meanings in the different phases of our lives.

For children, of course, it means new clothes, junk food and angpows..

For teens, it means, angpows, blackjack and hanging out with friends.

For not too old and not too young (like me now), it means $$ flying away, responsibilities for parents and inlaws to be there for them.

For old folks, it surely means seeing and having the whole family together.

Of course, there are many other 101 whys to celebrate the new year.

Anyway, Happy Chinese New Year.

Bedtime lullabies

I do what mommies in my generation do, singing lullabies to my children before they sleep or to calm them down, or whenever the need arises. It feels great, as they listen attentively like I'm the greatest Malaysia Idol, unlike those friends who threatened to throw bad eggs at me if I don't keep my mouth shut. (Well, I'm not saying about you, so don't worry...:D )

But the routine of bedtime lullabies can rather be a bit exhaustive and boring at times, when the songs are those same ones (they do the songs selection), repeated every single night, and it's a MUST no matter how tired I was, or if I was already sleeping.

Yesterday, all the effort paid off, as my little girl sang back the lullabies to me to keep me awake while I was driving home from work. It made so darn happy as we talked on the phone, ALL THE WAY HOME FOR 30 MINS! And when the conversation topics end, as it's so limited, I asked her to render a few songs for me, and she start singing back to me with all her mighty fury, all those lullabies I sing to her every single night. Driving home alone on a tiring working day couldn't be better than that.

Unclogged!

This is a regime I try to stick to about once every 2 weeks. But lately, it had been quite awhile, and after several weeks of it without any attention, this is what I get...

Yucks! Pretty gross, huh?

Sorry if the pictures above left you without any appetite now. haha... that's what my intention is, in fact!

Can you guess what those are? Yeah, about to say, no prize for guessing it right.

It's actually a pleasant routine for my skin. The minty cooling effect of the paste after application is just... heaven! And after all the "unplugging" job, (without the need to tolerate the pain of squeezing and tweezing by some stranger's hands), I could almost feel the skin was so much smoother and breathing easier. Well, of course, that's just an illusion.

Anyway, it's said that it's what EVERY woman need to do, else we go older in an accelerated pace. Bad when I have a husband with a babyface. Worse when his skin is fair. Worst, it's smoothie as well! Shucks! I so hate him!

Monopoly

Bought home this favorite childhood board game of mine weeks ago, but only managed to play it for the first time with my elder son just today.

It's like a reminiscence of the fun I had had when I was young, and a reminder how grown-up my son now is, for I had always longed to introduce this game to him even before he was conceived.

I used to play this board game with my brothers and cousins, and the one most enjoyable time was after SPM exam with my all-girls' school friends in Pauline Tan's home. It was non-stop laughter and giggles playing it for a few hours straight. It might also be because of the weight lifted from our shoulders caused by the exam pressure, nevertheless, it was one of those few moments in my life I wouldn't forget.

This time, I finally had the chance to play it with my son, and seeing how much pleasure he gets from it made me feel so contentedly happy. And I must admit, I still enjoy playing the game, somehow. It would be more fun when the younger ones can comprehend and join us in, but they were too young at this moment of time, crying desperately for my full attention to them instead. Gosh.. not easy to juggle the time among the 3 of them.

This version I bought is the "Malaysian" version, hence the familiar names like Petaling St, Mont Kiara, TNB etc. I haven't have time to fully look at all the details but I wouldn't have thought the most prestigious area would be.... that place. Which location you think would be set next to the "Go" before you cross over and claim the salary of RM2000? (If you play this game before, you would surely know what I mean)

My Friday favorite time of the week

Long ago, I used to look forward to every Friday 5.30pm. I would rush to prepare dinner and settle all that was needed to be done before 4....
