A night with Bong, Jimsi Bong.

Last friday night, just the 2nd day of the opening date of this much hyped about Bong new movie, I eagerly bought 2 tickets online to go dating with my lover.

I love Bond movies. Love his hamsup ways, love his death-defying escapes at the last minutes, love the gadgets, love the song (tum tum tum tum... Bond song playing in my mind now), love the sexy gorgeous girls, love the signatory circle thing following Bond, then *bang* (bullet sound)...

This latest instalment, they took away ALL of those! So imagine my disappointment. The few hours made me blurred like hell, there wasn't any storyline at all, that's ok, not so bad, but how could they took away all the "Bond" elements. Not even a sophisticated, crazy, impossible gadget to show. And both of them looked deadly bored and sad throughout the movie (Jimsi Bong and his girlfriend).

I am betting on Madagascar to be a much better choice.

Shoulders feeling light now.

It's been hectic, anxiety, traumatizing.. (just testing my own vocabulary)

Glad that it's going to be over soon (fingers, toes, hair, bulu, all crossed) and I'm going to sleep in slumber (air liuh flowing), shoulders feeling lighter and able to look forward to my year end family vacations (note the plural form, not singular :D).

Don't know what I'm babbling meh? That means I'm a free person now la, duh!

Anyway, life's memang macam ini. When one door closes, another opens, another closes, another one will open, we won't be seeing any tunnels until "that" happen la. So, how? Stay happy and find friends to keep you happy.

Talking about that, I feel so sad to learn my very good friend here is going to leave us to be the youngest, most eligible expat for don't-know-how-many-years. But I can't be selfish to wish for her to stay on here when she have the chance I would have wished for myself to see the world, khau gweilo and "experience the salty sea", right? Hey, KW ah, you know our friend's update or not? When are we going to karaoke to sing "juk ni yi loo suen foong" dedicating to her ah?

Weird tag

It's interesting how the tags had evolved. Nevertheless, it's fun to know what weirdos there are out there.

Since my quirky friend, Goolypop, brought out her skeletons in the closet, well, I guess I shouldn't be letting her down too (though, honestly, I kept thinking and thinking about my own weirdness, I can't find any, unbelieveable but true)

So, after some deep thoughts, here it goes...

1. When I was a child, I like to play with "bei-tai", nay.. the juices that flow from your nose... HOI! I do not play anymore now hoh.

2. I do not know why but however much I liked to ogle at handsome tall men, those men whom ended up having "king kwang" with me are small sized.

3. I have a love-hate relationship with my "sai", especially those whom people regard as Hiroshima bombs. It stinks like mad, but I enjoy smelling the stink (want to try?). I only enjoy smelling my own stinking sai la though, others not included, I might be weird, but I'm not psycho, wokay?

4. I love to watch sexy women either on the streets, on the papers, in internet.. na na na.. I know all of you are nodding and agreeing with me that you love it too leh..

5. I have super extraordinary talent.. which is another story for another day.

6. I have 2 weird brothers. (lucky one of them is not reading my blog)

7. I keep all the weirdest friends, who are all weirder than me... haha...

*whew* What a hard day's work!

Pride and prejudice

Some years back, I chatted with a friend online. The topic was on her sister and her children. She was telling me how she noticed that her sister seems to show more love to her smaller kid and always shouting at her elder daughter. We both agreed that the elder kid is still a kid herself and doesn't deserve such prejudice. I made a mental note at that time to remind myself always not to give any preferences to my three young kids when I reach that stage.

However, as time passes by, I have to admit I am, at times, obviously guilty of such crime. Very naturally, I would expect my eldest to set a role model, to be more understanding, to be more matured. Then again, after the growl on him, I would feel terribly guilty, remembering the silent oath I made to myself. He's still a kid, shouldn't be so hard on him.

Like the other weekend, we were having a late dinner and everyone was awful hungry. My eldest son, the first one to complained, and not the first time as well, howled to me "Mommmeeee, I'm hungry..." Being hungry myself as well, I growled at him with the killer stare look "What do you want me to do? Go inside the kitchen and cook something for you right now? (We were at a restaurant)". I expected him to be more understanding since he is at the age to understand a lot more things than his younger sister or brother.

My cousin sister saw my evil witch side, commented without giving face "Alamak, so fierce one this mom!" Aiks!

Not later, my 2nd son wailed pathetically (in a soft tone, always have the effect to melt one's heart) "Mommmeee.. I'm very hungry"..

And I responded "wait ah.. the food will be coming"... Prejudice? Biased? Unfair treatment?

I admit guilty in the first degree. Yes, I can imagine my eldest son letting me go hungry for days and hiding my set of fake teeth while enjoying his fried drumsticks in front of me later on. Cham loh!

Of warehouse sale and playdoh!

Last week, I was very thrilled to see the warehouse sale ad on the papers from a major bookstore. I had just had a casual chat with Goolypop online and we were excitedly talking about the kind of books we read and the Calvin & Hobbes collection which we both heart so much. The books are not cheap either, I own only 1 of it, and the whole collection can come to a massive hole in the pocket. She was saying unless the warehouse sale is here, that would be quite a handsome savings in there.

And magically, I just don't quite believe it, whatever we talked about, somehow something would happen. Just like the other time we were talking about musicals and very soon, I saw the "Mamma Mia" coming to our homeland end of the year. Is God eavesdropping on what we were talking about? Sei-foh, better not gossip so much on others.

Anyway, other than C&H, I wanted to get my hands on my favorite author, Jeffrey Archer's new books and some self-learning books for some time. So, a hopeful me pulled myself up from the comfy home, braved the hot blazing heat, to find some indulgement of reading delights soon.

I found the place very soon, but dammit, the area was fully jammed with cars. Think there would be a covered carpark like MVM? Forget it. How I wish I have a driver who can just let me off at the entrance and I do not have to worry about the car. Then again, if I can afford a driver, I won't be hopping to a warehouse sale in the first place to save some bucks, right anot?

In the end, I had to park my car quite some distance away. I was so happy to find one, even though it's like 500m away. Then something happened which made my heart almost thumped out. When I turned my car in, suddenly the left wheel dropped into what seemed like a big longkang hole and I was so darn scared I can't reverse my car out from it. So mega fortunate I could and all was well again. How could I have missed that earlier? Guess I was too eager.

So, with all the near misfortune and the long walk under the hot sun, I was hoping the sale won't let me down. Behold, it was really quite a tonnes of books in there. One can really spend the whole 6 days sale in there, and still haven't seen all the books on sale. I went 1 round to browse the whole place first, and only much later focus on the books I would want to have.

Unfortunately, the novels by Archer on sale were all the old ones which I already have in my possession. Then not many selfhelp books I wanted were there, only by the local authors were on sale. And C&H? No such luck. Instead, the whole collection of Tintin series were available. It was humid and warm inside the warehouse, and I wasn't feeling very comfortable either with the weird tummy in me. So, in the end, I bought 2 books, one was "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" and another children's books equipped with some plasticine for play, quickly went home to have some rest.

What a disappointed me!

There was a reason why I got hold of the clay though. The other time while we were in Spore, my brother had given little A a gift and it was a display for underwater world with some playdoh and instructions to make little stuffs of the deep sea. He was looking forward to open it up and play with it, but I had told him to hang on for the longest time, telling him to wait until school holidays first. Why school holidays? That's because mom (that's me, duh!) is lazy and wants to procrastinate.

One day, he opened it up without my permission and when I came home, I saw all the clays were all mixed up, the whole table was messed up and the floor was full with tiny bits of the clay everywhere. Naturally, I went berserk, and proceeded to throw all the clays away, making him crying and wailing like "sei lou moe", oh, he always softened my heart with his pathetic look of his doggy eyes and face everytime. But I was adamant, though I told myself I would make up for him by getting him a new set soon. I surely wouldn't want him to remember the evil looking face I was when I threw all that he loved away that moment, would I? Mommy is surely "moe leong sum", I know.

So, everything is well again when he saw the new clays that day, and again he pestered me every freaking day to play with it. Over the weekend, I gave in, and we had a good one hour of playtime making fish, cake, snail and caterpillar. I hope they only remember the best memories of childhood I'm trying to give to them instead of the bad, mean witch that I am when I need to show them who's the boss around the house.

A morbid tale

Last night, we went to a friend's dad's taoist funeral. We get acquainted with this friend in Brunei while we were living there the last few years.

It came rather unexpectedly, since we hadn't heard about his dad's being sick, then again, we were not too close families either, were we?

A little brief summary of him, he and his family had been living in Brunei for most of their years and about the time I had my 2nd child, he moved to KL and settled down back here permanently, bringing along his parents and siblings too. Not long later, he found his wife and got married, and we did attend his wedding.

Last night when we arrived, it was raining, as it had been for these few weeks. As we saw him, we shook his hand and convey our condolences. Halfway through the conversation, we shook his hand again, this time to congratulate him on learning he's going to have his first child in Mar next year. That felt a little bit awkward.

His dad was only 65 (which tugs at the heartstrings, you know, how awfully close the age is with my parents' age), and he wasn't sick or ill before he passed away. Though he was a diabetes, and nearly losing his eyesight, high blood pressure, he was basically ok, can walk and talk and care for his own self. Apart from having a slight cough, he was just as normal as person as could be. And he had just left without any word in the evening, after telling his wife that he was feeling unwell.

Which brings to us to think if it's really a good thing or otherwise sending someone so close to heaven in this way. On one hand, it was like, there wasn't any goodbye. On the other, he passed away without any much suffering or pain.

I commented, that well, at the very least, he had spent a good few years living comfortably in the new cosy home with his own children, which is something I would regret for my own dad if anything would happen. In a way, I guess I was talking to myself.

But our friend detested, wondering if he would really live longer if he had stayed in Brunei, for he had his friends and his work there all his lifetime. We wouldn't know which would really do good for them, would we? In the end, I guess it all depends how they choose to be happy, as long as they are happy.

Towards the end, we chatted with his wife's sister, who told us buddhist funerals are so expensive, compared to christians. Just for the information, they paid RM13k for all the funeral rites, canopy, drinks and food, without the costs of burial. He told us earlier that 2 spaces in Nirwana costs them Rm32k, but is refundable after 8 years.

Apart from it, we got to know when someone died, even of natural death like this, it's a must to make a police report. The police will come over soon and check that no abnormality is found and is indeed a natural death. The ambulance which they called for was even kengchau. Apparently, they took quite a long time to arrive, unlike the belief we have that it would be seen almost instantly if we called one. And that is not the juice yet. The oomph is after they arrived, they checked the patient, and when they learnt he passed away, they asked you back why you asked for ambulance! Terror tak?

Back to this woman whom we befriended, suddenly we found ourselves in a one-way conversation of Jesus Christ. Amazing how she could 1-luon-jui (1 mouthful, nonstop all the way) talk about Jesus. I wanted to sepit in between to call it quits, it was really getting late for me, as I need to wake up early to send son to school, but was finding it so hard to do so. Eventually we did, whew! and I went home feeling morbid, while reminded yet again to love and appreciate the times when the loved one is still alive.

The year end concert 2008

The preschool's concert this year's theme is "Heal the earth", looking at a serious issue of global warming and pollution. I felt that although the theme is meaningful, it's a tad bit serious for little children to convey the message across. Especially to a hall of parents who's only interested to look at their own dahlings sway their hips and move their butts.

Anyway, it's overall a very good and organized production. My only small complaint is that we have to pay for my own children's participation (not the other way round!) ish!

Then again, seeing how the 2 enjoyed themselves, especially the little girl, it was all forgotten. She really did take the business seriously!

"I'm a tree! One baby little tree which can crawl, sway, jump and move around"

Check out the punk hairstyle!

Look at the emotions spilling all over while singing MJ's Heal the World.
The same expressions was felt during a scene of "demonstration", shouting "Save our land, save our sea, save our earth"... a good demonstrator in the making. Ain't I proud of this little fler?

He and his little truck, posing with his pretty teacher.

The major disappointment when I got home was the realization that the video we had of little girl's performance was totally erased! Boohoohoo! I was so distraught. Left with the school's DVD concert video, which I loathe to pay another 20 bucks for. I'm trying to find if anyone can "lend" to me for just a day..

Thoughts while driving

Yesterday, I drove to a less-travelled route to have lunch, just so to find that perfect fish ball that suits my palette.  In doing so, I p...
